Title: Ned Kelly
Description: One of the greatest mad Aussie icons that have ever lived, was a Bush Ranger named Edward "Ned" Kelly. Ned Kelly, considered by some as a cold-blooded killer and nothing more then a criminal, is now a famous Australian legend. He was a symbol of Australian resistance against oppression by the British ruling class, and defiance of the colonial authorities. On the 28th of June 1880, a violent confrontation with police took place at Glenrowan. It was a massive gunfight, where Ned dressed in home-made plate metal Armour and his now famous helmet, was captured and sent to jail. Ned Kelly was hanged for murder at the Old Melbourne Gaol in November 1880, his last words were, "Such is Life". Heath Ledger played Ned Kelly in the 2003 film with the same name, a worthy Australian actor to play the part of this famous Australian. This picture was taken of Ned Kelly the day before his execution. He was hanged on the 11th November 1880 aged 25. R.I.P Edward "Ned" Kelly
